Who we are
CowTreeMoon is operated by type-safe.studio B.V. (KvK 87625075), the data controller for this site. Questions: hello@type-safe.studio.
What we collect
- Project submissions. If you submit a project, we store what you enter — project and organization details, your email address, and any note you add — so we can review it, publish it, and come back to you with questions.
- Email updates. If you ask to hear when the atlas grows, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, and the date. Nothing else, and only because you asked.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser and collects your approximate location (from your IP address), device and browser. We don't run advertising, and we don't sell or share this data.
- Link counts. When you click through to an organization we record which kind of link it was and which organization — a running total, with nothing that identifies you.
- Technical logs. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser) for security and operating the service.
- No accounts. The public atlas has no login. A theme preference may be stored locally in your browser — that never reaches us.
Cookies
The only cookies on the public site are Google Analytics' (_gaand similar), used to count visits and tell returning visitors from new ones. You can block them with your browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on, and the site works exactly the same without them.
Outbound links
Links to organizations carry a utm_source=cowtreemoon.comtag so the destination can see the visit came from the atlas. Once you leave, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Email we send
If you subscribe, we'll write occasionally about new projects and the work behind them — never more often than we have something worth saying, and never with your address passed on to anyone else. Ask us to remove you at any time and we will, immediately and without asking why.
Where your data is held
Our database and several of our providers are in the United States, so data you give us is transferred there. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard in each provider's terms.
How long we keep it
- Submissions: kept while we review, and afterwards as a record of where a published entry came from.
- Email addresses: until you unsubscribe, then deleted.
- Link counts and analytics: aggregate figures, kept as long as they're useful.
Payments
There is currently no payment form on this site — support enquiries reach us by email. If we add one, a payment provider will handle it and we will never receive or store your card details.
Who processes data for us
Vercel (application hosting), Neon (our database, in the United States), Google (analytics) and Resend (the email we send). Feed content and images are served from the organizations' own sites, so their servers see the request.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data, or object to its use — just email hello@type-safe.studio. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). To come off the email list, reply to any email from us or write to the address above — either works.
