Founded in 1991, Access Fund is the US climbing community's advocacy and stewardship organization, working with land managers to keep climbing areas open while protecting the ecosystems around them. Its Adopt a Crag program mobilizes climbers nationwide for litter clean-ups, erosion control, invasive-species removal and trail restoration at their local cliffs, and its Climbing Conservation Grant program has funded hundreds of stewardship and land-acquisition projects since 1991. Through direct land purchases and easements, the organization has permanently protected nearly 4 million acres of public climbing landscapes.
