Founded in 1985 in Liestal, ADEV Energiegenossenschaft was one of Switzerland's first citizen-owned renewable energy cooperatives, financing and operating decentralized solar, wind, small hydro, biomass and heating-network plants across the country. Around 2,000 members and shareholders have invested in the cooperative, which now runs roughly 140 renewable energy installations nationwide. In 2025 those plants generated about 77 million kWh of 100%-renewable electricity, plus over 34 million kWh of heat, with solar output growing more than 50% year over year.
