Alipay Ant Forest

Launched in 2016 inside the Alipay app, Ant Forest rewards users with virtual green energy points for eco-friendly actions like cycling, public transit, and recycling, which convert into real trees planted in China's drylands. Trees have been planted across 13 provinces including Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Xinjiang, covering roughly 4,366 square kilometers. Ant Group has committed 4.566 billion yuan to the program, part of which becomes income for local planters and caretakers.
