ANCOT (also known as the Tajikistan Nature Foundation) is a national NGO, an IUCN member since 2017, that supports a nationwide network of community-based wildlife conservancies established by local families and hunter associations since 2008. Member conservancies such as M-Sayod and Miron manage rugged habitat in the Pamirs and Alai mountains, funding rangers, anti-poaching patrols and village development from regulated, sustainable-use tourism revenue. At the Miron conservancy, urial numbers roughly doubled between 2020 and 2022 as former poachers were hired as rangers, part of a broader recovery seen across the conservancy network ANCOT helps coordinate.
