Founded in 1989 in the M'Zab valley, APEB works to rehabilitate and adapt ancestral oasis-management knowledge in Béni-Isguen, a 130-hectare palm grove oasis in southern Algeria. Through its Akraz agroecology training centre, the association runs a composting station that both produces compost for local growers and doubles as a hands-on classroom for organic farming and good oasis practices, with training sessions reaching around 200 people, nearly a quarter of them women. APEB coordinates its work through the regional RADDO network of Saharan oases associations and has led EU- and partner-funded programmes (DEVOASIS, PACO) supporting sustainable rural development across southern Algeria.
