BasiGo, based in Nairobi, sells and finances battery-electric buses to bus operators in Kenya and Rwanda, so the exhaust never gets made in the first place. Its website counter shows 114 buses in operation, 7,045,452 electric kilometres driven, 1,437,591 litres of diesel avoided and 9,675,042 passengers carried. In June 2026 its Rwandan fleet grew to 52 buses with 18 new intercity coaches (range up to 350 km) serving routes from Kigali to Musanze, Rubavu, Huye, Rusizi and Nyagatare. The company was named to MIT Technology Review's 2026 Climate Tech Companies to Watch list in October 2026. The counters are the company's own figures and the site does not say how they split between countries.
