Blue Star Recyclers is an e-Steward certified nonprofit social enterprise founded in 2009 in Colorado, built specifically to create stable jobs for people with autism, developmental disabilities, and other barriers to employment β a population facing roughly 80% unemployment nationally. Workers sort, dismantle, and process electronics for reuse and recycling, keeping hazardous e-waste out of landfills, and the model runs with less than 10% annual staff turnover. Since 2009 the organization has recycled more than 39 million pounds of electronics while building a workforce where roughly 90% of staff have a disability.
