Bumblebee Conservation Trust runs BeeWalk, Britain's national bumblebee monitoring scheme, alongside on-the-ground habitat restoration that sows wildflower-rich grassland for pollinators. Since 2008, trained volunteer 'BeeWalkers' have logged over 1.3 million bumblebee sightings across more than 1,100 transects spanning Britain. A third of the UK's 24 bumblebee species are in trouble, and two have already gone extinct, driven largely by the loss of over 97% of the country's flower-rich grassland since the 1930s.
