CAMFED trains members of CAMA, its alumnae network of more than 312,000 young women educated through its girls'-schooling program in Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, to become Agriculture Guides who teach neighbors drip irrigation, agroforestry and fuel-efficient stoves. Since the program launched in 2013, an initial 1,000 guides have each gone on to train at least ten more women, spreading climate-smart techniques to over 100,000 people by 2022. The initiative won a 2019 UN Global Climate Action Award for pairing climate resilience with young women's economic empowerment.
