Founded in 1961, Camphill Village Copake is an intentional community of about 235 people, including roughly 96 adults with developmental disabilities living alongside co-workers and their families. Residents share in the daily work of a 750-acre biodynamic farm and gardens — dairy, market vegetables, a seed-growing operation, and a healing-herb garden — that has been run on organic and biodynamic principles since the community's founding. Work is structured around purposeful, dignified participation rather than segregated care, making farming itself the therapeutic and economic backbone of the community.
