The Caribbean Cetacean Society was founded in 2020 by marine biologists Laura Pittino and Jeffrey Bernus and is headquartered in Martinique. Its Ti Whale An Nou (Creole for 'our little whales') programme runs standardized expeditions using photo-identification and passive acoustic monitoring, with local volunteers, across the Lesser Antilles; the 2022 edition launched from Martinique. The society reports more than 30 expeditions, 22 cetacean species encountered, over 300 volunteers trained and 20 scientific reports published. It also runs sea camps for children, and in March 2025 convened a regional cetacean management forum in Saint Lucia supported by the French Embassy.
