Pastoral Social Cáritas Corocoro, the social arm of the Catholic Prelature of Corocoro in Bolivia, ran a reforestation drive in Colquiri, in Inquisivi province, La Paz department, supported by the German Catholic agency Misereor. In early 2025 it planted more than 7,000 seedlings of two pine varieties, quisuara, queñua and citíus across more than 10 hectares of abandoned land in over five communities. Local producers, children and older adults took part in digging and planting. The goals are to restore degraded ecosystems, improve water retention and help fight desertification, and the programme is meant to continue with more trees and more communities in coming years.
