Cocoa Farming Future Initiative was founded in 2011 by farmer Paula Burdick after back-to-back hurricanes devastated Grenada's cocoa sector, launching a 'Buy a Tree, Support a Farmer' campaign to get replacement saplings to affected growers. Today CFFI runs a model organic cocoa farm and outdoor classroom, a grafting nursery that produces high-yield organic seedlings, and a composting station that sells affordable organic fertilizer to local farmers. For every $25 donated, CFFI delivers two grafted cocoa saplings, plus transport and planting compost, directly to an independent grower. The organization also runs a women's crafts cooperative for family members outside the farming trade, and works alongside the Grenada Cocoa Association to support the country's aging community of independent cocoa farmers.
