BLAZE, led by Hermínio Cossa at the Manhiça Health Research Centre with EPIC Air Quality Fund support, set up nine low-cost sensors across Maputo City, Matola and Boane, hosted at health facilities. Two reference-grade monitors run at CISM in Manhiça and Eduardo Mondlane University, giving 11 active PM2.5 stations. Hourly and daily data since November 2023 are open on OpenAQ, and the team is pushing to update Mozambique's air quality standards, which date back more than 20 years. A November 2025 public exhibition in Manhiça showed communities the instruments in action.
