CloudSolar: Crowdfunding Barbados's Rooftop Solar Revolution

CloudSolar, billed as the Caribbean's first digital solar investment platform, lets Barbadians purchase individual panels within its island-wide network of ground- and roof-mounted solar farms and earn monthly returns as those panels sell power back to the grid. Since its solar business began in 2016, the company has deployed more than 4 megawatts of capacity, drawn over $5 million in local investment, and sold more than 10 million kWh of clean electricity into the national grid. CloudSolar has committed to add another 5.6 megawatts of capacity and is scouting more than 1 million square feet of rooftop space for future projects. The platform adds a new layer to Barbados's decades-old reputation as a solar pioneer, aiming to help the island reach 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
