Coral Catch

Founded in 2021 by Rose Huizenga on Gili Air, Coral Catch runs an intensive nine-week scholarship that gives young Indonesian women PADI and Conservation Diver certification, 54 scientific dives and hands-on training in coral restoration and reef survey methods. The program exists because marine science and diving in Indonesia have long been male-dominated fields; graduates, known as Coral Catch Superwomen, go on to careers in marine conservation and reef monitoring. The organization's goal is to train 100 local women in coral restoration by 2030 and teach 100 more local women to swim.
