Dodai assembles electric motorbikes in Addis Ababa and runs a battery-swap network so riders and delivery companies can drop petrol bikes without waiting to recharge. Rest of World reported 850 bikes sold in under a year as of March 2025, and by April 2026 the company said it had deployed more than 2,000 electric motorbikes, with a team of about 100, 97 percent of them Ethiopian. Riders who switch report cutting fuel and maintenance costs by 80 to 90 percent, and Ethiopia's grid is about 90 percent hydropower. In April 2026 Dodai closed a $13 million Series A to expand to 30 swap stations in the next year. Deployment figures are company-reported.
