Ecoaction (Center for Environmental Initiatives), based in Kyiv, campaigns for a climate-resilient, coal-free recovery for Ukraine while documenting environmental damage from the war. Between April 2025 and March 2026 the group expanded its 'just transition' program - helping former coal-mining communities plan their economic future beyond coal - to 40 local authorities, up from 20 the year before, and helped secure UAH 620 million (about $15 million) for Ukraine's national Energy Efficiency Fund in the 2026 state budget. Ecoaction also mapped nitrate groundwater pollution nationwide, ran green-reconstruction partnerships pairing Ukrainian and European municipalities, and mobilized 80 volunteers who contributed over 300 times to environmental campaigns.
