Founded in 2007 in the Misgav industrial zone of northern Israel, Ecology for a Protected Community sorts, dismantles, and refurbishes electronic waste with a workforce built around people with disabilities. Of its roughly 93 staff, about 75 live with conditions including autism, Down syndrome, PTSD, or hearing impairment, and the program is officially recognized by the state as a form of vocational rehabilitation. The company processes an estimated 2,100 tons of e-waste annually, and more than ten employees have gone on to jobs at major companies such as Elbit Systems.
