Dolphins Don't Need a Visa in the Gulf of Guinea

Pro-CAMPO, launched in Campo (Cameroon) on 8 June 2026 and in Rio Campo (Equatorial Guinea) on 10 June 2026, strengthens two marine protected areas that share a coast: Manyange na Elombo-Campo Marine National Park and Rio Campo National Park. It is led by the African Marine Conservation Organisation (AMCO), a Cameroon-based group working on sea turtles, manatees, dolphins, whales, sharks and rays, with WWF, TUBE AWU and the Equatorial Guinean association ANDEGE. The Atlantic humpback dolphin, one of Africa's least-known and most threatened coastal cetaceans, is confirmed on the Cameroon side and likely present in Equatorial Guinea, where dedicated research has been limited. The four-year project aims to build transboundary cooperation, institutional capacity and community resilience to climate change.
