Fair Seas unites Ireland's leading environmental NGOs and networks, including the Irish Wildlife Trust, BirdWatch Ireland and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, into a single campaign for a healthy, well-protected Irish sea. Since the coalition began campaigning in 2022, the share of Irish waters designated as protected has grown from about 2% to just over 9%, still far short of the government's own target. Fair Seas researches and maps priority sites for new Marine Protected Areas, mobilizes coastal communities, runs public surveys on ocean health, and pushes for Ireland's first standalone Marine Protected Area law, welcoming the government's 2026 MPA Bill as a milestone toward its goal.
