FECT is a non-profit think tank founded in 2003 and based in Akurana, working on climate, environment, disasters and information technology for vulnerable communities. Its cleanair.lk portal, available in English, Sinhala and Tamil, combines a near-real-time air quality map from PurpleAir and IQAir sensors with explainers on pollution sources, health and farming impacts, and a section for kids. In its report for 28 September to 4 October 2026, 16 towns were covered, two rated Good (Puttalam and Mannar) and 14 Moderate, with Digana highest at a weekly average AQI of 80. The portal won the ICTA e-Swabhimani 2020 Digital Social Impact Award.
