Green Hrastnik: Slovenia's Citizen Solar Community

Focus is an independent Slovenian NGO working on climate, energy and sustainable-mobility policy through research, advocacy and hands-on community projects. Under the EU LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE programme, Focus helped set up 'Zeleni Hrastnik' (Green Hrastnik), a cooperative community solar power plant that has enrolled local households, public buildings and businesses as an energy-self-sufficiency community, alongside similar demonstration projects in Ig, Postojna and Velenje. Focus also runs household energy-poverty audits and coordinates Slovenia's Climate Policy Working Group, feeding citizen input into the country's National Energy and Climate Plan.
