Forest Green Rovers, a Gloucestershire football club, was certified carbon neutral by the United Nations in 2019 after FIFA had already called it the world's greenest club in 2017. The New Lawn stadium runs on 100% renewable electricity and gas, draws roughly a fifth of its yearly power from on-site solar arrays, mows its organic, pesticide-free pitch with a solar-charged robot, and recycles rainwater and treated wastewater for irrigation. The club has been fully plant-based since 2015 and holds ISO 14001 environmental certification, and it is working toward a 50% cut in emissions by 2030 under its UN Climate Neutral Now pledge.
