Free Movement Skateboarding runs free, weekly skate sessions for refugee, migrant, and local children in Athens, Greece, including a dedicated Women's Program built around gender equity. In its 2022-23 program year, the charity delivered 166 sessions to 569 participants representing 37 nationalities, with girls making up a third of attendees. The UK-registered charity won the EU's 2023 'Be Active' Breaking Barriers award for promoting inclusive access to skateboarding. Coaches use the sport to build trust, confidence, and community among young people who have often experienced displacement.
