Established in May 2009 and registered as an NGO in 2012, Fusi Alofa Association Tuvalu (FAA) is the sole umbrella organisation representing people with disabilities in Tuvalu. FAA lobbies government on disability rights, trains sign language and wheelchair mobility, and in 2011 opened a dedicated centre in Funafuti to educate children with disabilities, most of whom previously had no access to schooling. The association also works on disaster preparedness and climate adaptation for disabled Tuvaluans, among the most exposed people on Earth to sea-level rise, and in 2022 received a Commonwealth Foundation grant of £9,781 to strengthen its advocacy capacity.
