GEAG, working in eastern Uttar Pradesh since 1975, helps small and marginal farmers โ€” mostly women โ€” on the flood-exposed edges of Gorakhpur city adopt raised-bed cropping, resilient seed varieties, and wetland-friendly farming that keeps floodwater moving instead of pooling in neighborhoods. Its 'Enhancing Climate Resilience of Gorakhpur through Climate-Resilient Peri-Urban Agriculture' project, backed by the Rockefeller Foundation, brought these practices to 200 hectares of peri-urban land, cutting flood losses while raising farm incomes. GEAG also runs mobile-phone weather advisories for women farmers and holds UNFCCC and Green Climate Fund observer status, feeding its grassroots lessons into national climate policy.
