Founded in 2020 by South Sudanese refugee Emmanuel Lomoro and incubated by the Social Innovation Academy (SINA), Generous Designs Africa employs refugee youth, widows and single mothers in Bidibidi β one of Uganda's largest refugee settlements β to shred, melt and remould plastic waste, and to sew old UNHCR tarpaulins into school bags and shopping totes. The enterprise has collected roughly 790 kilograms of plastic waste, sold about 90,000 finished products, and created paid work for around 135 people.
