Founded in 2019 and led by BIPOC women, Guåhan Sustainable Culture works to reverse Guam's reliance on imported food by reviving CHamoru farming traditions. The group runs community and school gardens growing traditional staples like dågu, suni, and lemmai, and its Farmers 1st program has purchased more than $175,000 of produce directly from local growers. After Typhoon Mawar destroyed crops in 2023, GSC distributed relief microgrants to 120 farmers to help them replant. In late 2024 it acquired 50 acres of historic agricultural land to build a Food Resiliency Hub of small, climate-resilient farm plots for the community.
