Galway Hands Take 50,000 Mattresses Apart Piece by Piece

Bounce Back Recycling is a social enterprise that collects mattresses and furniture across Ireland, with 2-day collection in Galway City and 7 to 14 days for most of Connacht, Dublin and the midlands. At its Galway depot the mattresses are dismantled by hand and the steel, foam and wood are sent for reuse. The company says it has diverted 50,000 mattresses from landfill since 2017 and that it gives people facing barriers to employment jobs, work experience and progression. Its website lists a team of foremen and general operatives, and it also offers drop-off and services for hotels, retailers and local authorities.
