Konservasaun Flora no Fauna: Regrowing Timor-Leste's Mangrove Coast
by Konservasaun Flora no Fauna (KFF) Β· HQ πΉπ± Timor-Leste
Konservasaun Flora no Fauna (KFF) was founded in Dili in 2014 by biology students from the Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa'e after watching the capital's mangrove forests disappear to firewood and charcoal cutting. The organization runs a Mangrove Study Centre in Hera and has propagated large volumes of mangrove seedlings, rehabilitating mangrove habitat across Dili and Liquiça municipalities with support from UNDP Timor-Leste. Restored mangroves have brought back nursery habitat for fish, crabs, and shrimp along the coast, and KFF trains community groups and students in habitat mapping, species monitoring, and coral reef and seagrass conservation. It is recognized as Timor-Leste's only local conservation NGO working across both marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
