Land Together (formerly Insight Garden Program) runs a nearly year-long in-prison curriculum combining eco-literacy, permaculture design, mindfulness and trauma-informed personal development inside nine California correctional facilities, including the state's largest women's prison. Graduates move into wraparound reentry support, career training and continued nature-based healing after release. An independent 2024 study by Fresno State's Criminology Department found just 2.3% of graduates returned to prison within three years, compared with California's roughly 39% average recidivism rate.
