Liga Peatonal

Liga Peatonal is a network of pedestrian collectives and activists from across Mexico, formed in 2013 to give scattered local campaigns a national voice. In 2014 it published the Carta Mexicana de los Derechos del Peatón, a pedestrian bill of rights that has since been cited in municipal and state mobility law. Its Congreso Nacional de Peatones has now run ten editions, each hosted for several days by a different member city — Pachuca, Cholula, Mexico City, Morelia, Culiacán, Oaxaca and others — bringing together activists, academics and officials. The league frames walking as a human-rights question rather than a transport-engineering one, covering accessibility, noise and the right to a street a child can cross.
