France's Largest Guardian of Birds and Wild Habitats

LPO (Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux) was created in 1912 and today counts 80,000 members, 800 staff and 9,000 active volunteers across local associations in 83 French departments. It coordinates a nationwide network of more than 62,000 privately-owned LPO Refuges covering over 70,000 hectares set aside for wildlife, and its care centers treat more than 19,000 injured wild animals every year. As the French partner of BirdLife International, LPO combines species monitoring, land protection, environmental education and advocacy to defend biodiversity across the country.
