Rescuing Thousands of Tons of Food from Lithuania's Landfills

Maisto bankas rescues food that would otherwise be thrown away by supermarkets, producers and farmers, and channels it through a network of hundreds of partner charities across Lithuania. The organization runs twice-yearly nationwide food collection drives at supermarkets alongside continuous retail-surplus pickups. It now reaches roughly 230,000 people a month through its network of local partner organizations, and Lithuania has repeatedly ranked among Europe's leaders for food saved per capita through the food-bank system.
