Founded in 2003, MCD is a Vietnamese civil-society organization working across the Red River Delta, central coast and Mekong Delta to co-manage mangroves and coastal resources while helping communities adapt to sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion and stronger storms. It builds local capacity through climate information and training, and helps households diversify into climate-adaptive livelihoods such as mangrove-friendly aquaculture that keeps storm-buffering forests standing. Across its coastal commune network, MCD has directly supported over 1,000 households with climate-adaptive livelihoods and delivered climate information and training to roughly 30,000 vulnerable coastal residents in 13 coastal communes.
