MORDI Tonga Trust grew out of a 2004 regional rural-development programme backed by IFAD and was registered as an independent Tongan NGO in 2009. It helps villages draft their own Community Development Plans, then supports the priorities they identify, from climate-resilient seed and seedling production to disaster preparedness and sustainable livelihoods for women and youth. Its current programme, backed by the New Zealand Government, works with communities across Tongatapu and 'Eua through 2026. MORDI Tonga's work now reaches 122 communities, more than 7,300 households, and roughly 39,300 people across the kingdom.
