National Energy Action

National Energy Action has worked across England, Wales and Northern Ireland for over forty years on fuel poverty: the gap between what it costs to heat a home to a healthy temperature and what the household can afford. It combines direct casework — energy and income advice for people in crisis — with research, accredited training for energy advisers, and pressure on national policy, arguing that the durable fix is insulating Britain's leaky housing stock rather than repeatedly subsidising bills. Of the households it helped in 2024–25, 47.2% included a child under 16 and 76.6% were living on less than £16,286 a year. Cold homes are a health problem before they are an energy one, and the charity has been making that argument since the 1980s.
