Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur, the land-owning arm of natur&ëmwelt, has been acquiring and restoring nature reserves across Luxembourg since 1982, protecting wetlands, dry grasslands and Ardennes valleys that shelter rare orchids, breeding birds and amphibians. In 2024 alone the foundation acquired 146.53 hectares of new land for conservation. It also runs the country's only wildlife care centre, in Dudelange, which takes in roughly 3,800 sick, injured or orphaned wild animals a year across more than 190 native species. Together the reserve network and rescue centre form one of the Grand Duchy's longest-running grassroots nature-protection efforts.
