Founded in 1980, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation runs Green Recovery Nigeria, a program aiming to lift national forest cover from under 7% to 25% by 2047. With a TerraFund for AFR100 grant, NCF is restoring 200 hectares of degraded forest — land managed by Nnamdi Azikiwe University in the southeast plus NCF-owned sites in Ajingi, Kano and the Abuja Conservation Centre — planting native trees and creating paid local jobs. NCF also built and runs the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos, home to Africa's longest canopy walkway, which has introduced generations of Nigerians to coastal forest wildlife since 1990.
