A Programmer in Kavadarci Has Put Used Computers in 4,000 Macedonian Homes

Borce Stamenov started Donate a Computer (#ДонирајКомпјутер) in late 2016, collecting second-hand computers from individuals, companies and institutions, repairing them and giving them free to low-income families who show proof of social status. The initiative was registered as a non-profit in September 2021 after winning a European of the Year solidarity award. Its own site now says over 4,000 families have received a computer and computer labs have been equipped in 100 schools across nine years of work. Its New European Bauhaus Prize entry describes about 50 volunteers, drop-off points in over 50 Neptun stores and free freight from a logistics partner.
