Ørsted, formerly DONG Energy, is a Danish energy company that in 2009 committed to flipping its business from fossil fuels to renewables, phasing out coal power stations and selling its oil and gas division. It closed its last coal-fired plant in 2024 and became the world's largest developer of offshore wind farms by number built, with projects across Europe, the US and Asia. By 2025 the company had cut its scope 1-2 greenhouse gas emissions by 98% compared with 2006 levels.
