Regenerating Patagonia's Grasslands Through Holistic Sheep Grazing
by Ovis 21 Β· HQ π¦π· Argentina
Founded in 2003 in RΓo Gallegos, Ovis 21 is the Argentine hub of the Savory Institute's global network and a certified B Corporation working with commercial sheep ranchers across Patagonia and northern Argentina. It co-developed the GRASS standard with The Nature Conservancy, a grassland certification that verifies ranchers are moving flocks to mimic natural grazing patterns rather than continuously overgrazing one pasture. Wool from GRASS-certified ranches is now traceable through a regenerative supply chain, and Ovis 21's school has trained hundreds of ranchers across South America in Holistic Management. The result is measurable ecological recovery on land that a century of set-stocked sheep grazing had pushed toward desertification.
