Project Pressure is a UK-registered charity, founded in 2008, dedicated to documenting the world's vanishing glaciers by combining field science with art and photography, building what it calls the first open-source glacier archive. Working with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and UNESCO, its expedition teams surveyed Mount Stanley's ice for the first-ever 3D model of the Rwenzoris' glaciers and installed long-term monitoring equipment, generating data local authorities use to plan for the loss of a water source that around 5 million people downstream depend on. The charity's data showed Mount Stanley's glacier lost 29.5% of its surface area between 2020 and 2024 alone.
