Founded in 2004 as RepaNet and renamed Re-Use Austria in 2023, the association brings together more than 40 full member organisations and around 20 supporting members working in reuse, repair and the circular social economy. Its members run second-hand shops, repair cafes and the WIDADO online reuse marketplace, extending the life of goods that would otherwise be discarded. According to Re-Use Austria's own market survey, the social economy sector creates 1,879 transitional jobs through consistent reuse and repair work, while member repair cafes saved an estimated 340 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions in a single year.
