Reef Conservation has worked since 2004 to protect and restore Mauritius's coastal and marine ecosystems, from deploying fixed mooring buoys that keep boat anchors off fragile coral to training out-of-school youth as eco-guides and working with fishers on voluntary conservation areas. As the national operator of the international Eco-Schools programme for Mauritius and Rodrigues, it coordinates environmental education across the island, culminating each December in a certificate ceremony recognising schools' sustainability achievements. In December 2023, 69 schools took part nationally, with 49 earning the programme's highest Green Flag Award.
