The association, formed by survivors of Río Negro and their descendants, many forcibly displaced to Pacux during the armed conflict and the construction of the Chixoy dam, farms in Rabinal, Baja Verapaz, inside Guatemala's drought-prone Dry Corridor. With the Honnold Foundation it is installing 20 solar water-pumping systems to irrigate 50 agroecological plots in Pacux, Río Negro, San Gabriel, Chipacapox and Panacal, directly benefiting about 50 families (roughly 250 people). Farmers are also trained in agroecological production and pump maintenance. The group has helped return the Maravilla tomato, a historic Rabinal variety, to local cultivation using seeds preserved abroad.
