Sailors for the Sea (Clean Regattas)

Sailors for the Sea, now powered by Oceana, engages the global sailing and boating community to protect ocean health through its Clean Regattas certification programme, education and advocacy. Since the programme launched in 2006, more than 2,800 sailing events and 750,000 sailors have taken part, adopting practices like reusable water stations and waste-sorting that have kept millions of single-use plastic bottles and straws out of the water. Its KELP youth curriculum has delivered ocean-literacy lessons to hundreds of thousands of children since 2012, and its Green Boater programme mobilises recreational sailors to advocate for ocean policy.
