245,972 Fresh Meals Saved from the Bin by Saudi Arabia's First Food Bank

Etaam, the Saudi Food Bank, is a licensed non-profit that rescues surplus food and redistributes it to families in need. Its website's 2025 indicators show branches in five cities, 41 refrigerated vehicles and 15 production lines running year-round. In that period it completed 5,249 food supply trips, saved 245,972 fresh meals from waste, distributed 38,122 food baskets and served 9,118 beneficiary families, with 4,512 volunteers giving 36,017 hours. A 2023 KAUST community notice described it as saving more than three million meals from waste each year.
